Lelia's First Birthday

Happy First Birthday, Lelia Drew!

You have brought more joy to our lives than we ever would have imagined.

We love to see you singing in your little voice, dancing whenever you hear music, greeting your dogs and cat with a special growl, throwing your hands in the air when we say 'yeah', eating anything and everything that comes your way, being a good little traveler, eating shovelfuls of sand at the beach, squealing with delight when you're swinging on the swings at the park, gently patting other little kids on the head and belly when you meet them, enthusiastically learning how to swim, playing with your toys (especially the ones that make music) and even putting some of them away by yourself when you are done, running EVERYWHERE, smiling endlessly when you are in your little red wagon when we go on walks, giving us kisses and hugs goodnight, waking each morning with a smile and arms outstretched to us, loving all the special people in your life who in turn love you wholly and completely.

As your parents, we have loved watching you reach milestones and blossom into the amazing little girl you are. We feel privileged to be watching over you and teaching you about the wonderful world you live in over the next couple decades, knowing that you will enter adulthood feeling confident, loved and fully capable of anything you seek to accomplish in your life. We are in awe of the smart, funny, happy little girl you are. You have helped your Papa and me grow in so many ways and have made our lives so much deeper and fuller because of your presence. Thank you for who you are and for all those you touch with your willing smile and silly antics. You are absolutely amazing. You are loved and cherished and adored. We can't wait to see what lies ahead for you...our precious first-born daughter! Amore!

Tre's 'Big Lebowski' Birthday

Last year was Tre's 30th birthday, but we were mildly distracted with Babywatch 2009 and waiting for the newest member of our family to join us, so we didn't have a proper blow-out party that is worthy of a third decade of life celebration.

So, this year we had a big party!

With a "Big Lebowski' theme. For those that have seen the movie...you know what I'm talking about. For those that have not seen the movie, all you really need to know is that there are some crazy characters, some bowling and the drink of choice is a White Russian.

So, we requested people dress up as their favorite character while we bowled and then afterwards we would celebrate our bowling accomplishments with a BBQ. We all had a lot of fun and I think the birthday boy especially.

I mean, if THIS isn't a happy face, what is?

Lelia's first bike ride

We've been looking for some fun stuff to do as a family this summer (that is, if summer ever decides to show up) and decided it was time to get gear to introduce Monkey to the wonders and fun of bicycling!

We got her this cool seat that attaches to the front of the bike (Tre's bike in this case) and a cute little helmet to protect her tiny melon. So far, we've only gone on a short, couple mile ride and Lelia sang and smiled the whole time.

And she's a true Oregonian...it was raining pretty hard on the second half of our ride and she was still a happy little singing soul. :)
