2 weeks of 2 kids

We're doing pretty good here at Cl8n Camp. Sure there've been some hard moments but overall, the adjustment has been pretty smooth! Yeah!

Wren is now just over 2 weeks old! Already!?! My, oh my, how time is flying by! Aside from a couple sleepless nights, Wren is pretty much on a 'normal' schedule...meaning she is only up twice a night between 11 PM and 7 AM...not too shabby! She's had a couple episodes of grumpy belly which led to the sleepless nights, but overall her little system seems to be working quite well! Wren has at least 5 hours a day of what we call 'awake baby' time where she's just content to take in her environment by looking around and when talked to she happily presents us with some crossed eyes and a furrowed brow! She really is quite a chill baby! And she even puts up with Lelia's eager attention in the form of an eye poke or a rough head pat but also with some wet kisses and strong hugs. But I guess babies do survive their siblings...

not so happy Wren

Hi Miss Wren!

'awake baby' time

Lelia continues to adjust beautifully to her sister. So far, we've not noticed any signs of jealousy over our preoccupation with Wren and her back-to-back feedings and diaper changes. Instead, Lelia is quite attentive and likes to make sure Wren has her binkie, enjoys patting her head, talking to her and wanting to give her hugs and kisses first thing in the morning! It is so sweet to watch!

sweet sister moment

Lelia is now 18 months old and she's starting to exercise her independence more and more. Meaning, she no longer likes to be fed her yogurt/mac n cheese/etc but likes to feed herself. While she's actually pretty accurate at getting the full spoon to her mouth, it is still quite a mess and sometimes not worth the clean-up that is sure to follow. We've also had a few mini tantrums where Lelia throws herself on the floor and howls for a little while. We've also been recently introduced to the rag doll behavior where Lelia will suddenly go limp when we're trying to get her to do something she doesn't particularly want to do...like leaving the park after playtime or changing direction on the sidewalk to avoid fellow pedestrians. But overall, Lelia is still a very sweet, thoughtful, inquisitive, adaptable, curious, obedient and tender-hearted little girl. She likes to share and already seems to be quite compassionate and caring about others. It's so much fun to watch her learn new things (which seems like a daily occurrence) and it's also challenging to parent her at times! We're excited to see what the next few months hold for us as she heads closer to her second birthday and as Wren becomes more interactive with all of us.

Lelia loves to look at herself in the faucet handle...so funny!

We had a pediatrician appointment for the girls a couple days ago...18 month check-up for Lelia and a 2 week check-up for Wren. In addition to full physical checks, Lelia got 2 vaccines and little Wren got her second PKU administered. There were LOTS of tears shed, ample screaming and one poor Papa who, bless his sweet heart, had to hold both girls while they got poked. But we survived...barely! I hope I never have to take both girls in by myself...I do not know how that scenario could NOT end up with me bawling hysterically. Hope I never have to find out.

But here are our kiddos stats from their appointments:

Lelia- 24 lbs and 33 1/2 inches. She is beginning to transition out of 18 month clothes and into 18-24 month, 24 month and some 2T. She is in the 90th percentile for height and the 50th percentile for weight! She's growing well! Yeah!

Wren- 9 lbs 11.5 oz and 22 inches. No worries about her not getting enough to eat! Our sweet no-so-little girlie has gained an entire pound since her birth (and I was worried about her getting back to her birth weight at her 2 week appointment?!?HA!) and grown at least 1/4 of an inch. She has completely outgrown all newborn clothing and is now wearing 0-3 month and even some 3 month outfits! She is in the 95th percentiles for both height and weight! Makes it hard to think of her as a newborn! Little chubbette!

long overdue

Belly shot at 40.5 weeks

This child refuses to be born. Period.

We are now 6 days past our 'due date'. Grrr!

We have another midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon so we'll ask some questions, seek some advice and go from there. As long as both Little Bug and myself are healthy, there is really no reason to make Bug evacuate their cozy little home. I've got about another week of pregnancy before we'll have to start making some decisions about how/when to coax Bug out of their happy nest.

But for now, I'll admit, it's pretty frustrating to still be waiting for this little person to make their debut. Especially since the midwives had us pretty convinced we'd have a baby before the New Year! But we're trying to continue to be patient...we know this new little person has their own perfect birthing day in their own perfect time. We're trying to take advantage of sleep and some amazing one-on-one time with our sweet Lelia. Despite the frustration and extended waiting period, we've been blessed to be home enjoying time as a family of 3 for a little longer.

So, we'll see what the next few days have in store for us...

We're just SOOOO anxious to meet Little Bug! ;)
